Feed Shallow Lures from Tackle House

If you are a lure angler that targets Bass, and you don’t have a selection of Feed Shallow Lures amongst your collection, then your kit bag is in-complete! A bold statement, but I cannot emphasise the devastating attraction of this particular series of lures from Tackle House.

The holographic colour schemes are stunning and extremely realistic, and the finish is of the highest quality. Diving no deeper than two feet, these lures are killers over in-shore reefs, weed beds and especially shallow estuaries; they are one of Irelands best kept secrets, until now!

There is a built-in weight transferral system that sends this light-weight lure incredible distance, and a simple retrieve imparts a life-like side to side rolling action that predators find irresistible. There is no need to impart any additional action; they really are that good, although giving the lure a “twitch” every now and then will make it “walk” and “dart” for that wounded fish realism.

Only one slight “niggle”, the hooks could be better quality; I haven’t lost a fish but have snapped a couple at the bend whilst un-hooking Bass. Add a set of Owners or similar and you will, without doubt, have one of the deadliest all-round Bass lures available.

A recent trip to Cork proved just how deadly the Feed Shallow can be. Fishing a shallow, fast flowing estuary, my first fish hit after a single turn of the handle! Safely landed and released, a second Bass hit on the second turn of the handle! This fish regurgitated a sandeel, and comparing it to the Feed Shallow, pattern no.14, it was easy to see why. It was almost identical in size colour, and I am certain, action!

The model to look out for is the 128mm version, 18.5g and comes in a range of stunning, effective patterns, although the no.14 is a particular favourite. My angling mate and I caught and released so many Bass on this particular occasion; we honestly lost count in the hectic action, until the shoal finally moved out to sea and into deeper water.

We moved to another hot-spot later that evening, joining six other Bass anglers for a night session. The average catch on this occasion was either a blank, or a single fish. The Feed Shallow managed to find two “schoolies” landed and two lost, much better than the average on the night.

If you want an all-round lure to carry in the lure box, you will definitely be well rewarded with the Feed Shallow. Throw out a few oldies that lie in the tackle bag, un-used from season to season and add a selection from Tackle House, I did, and my Bass catch rate soared! Yours will too.
