Mackerel or Paternoster Rig

This is a very simple and probably most widely used rig for boat angling. Mackerel traces are relatively cheap to buy and extremely easy to tie in an endless variety of size, line strength and snood length combinations. Whether tied with coloured feathers or more modern reflective materials, these rigs continue to out-fish all others when it comes to general boat angling. By adding small strips of Mackerel or pieces of Rag worm, you will tempt most species in Irish waters.
