One up-one-down

Similar to the three-hook paternoster, by using only two hooks, the snoods can be tied much longer giving added movement to bait in a slacker tide. This can make the difference when bites are hard to come by.

Also, where three hooks are the maximum limit such as shore competitions, a third hook, or “flyer” can be added above the trace. Attached with a tiny link swivel and short snood, this will slide along the shock-leader during the cast, stopping at the leader knot. The obvious advantage is that the third hook will be searching out bonus species such as Flounder, Bass and Mullet feeding closer to shore, whilst the main rig will be fishing further out.
